Every couple
gets their own shajarah.
لكل عروسين شجرتهم
Women wove Sadu for the tent. The tent was the house. The house was the marriage. The central band of every weave, the shajarah, is the weaver's signature. YLAYLA puts yours on the gifts your guests carry home.
Three gifts, one gold rope.
Everything YLAYLA makes is tied the same way. The rope is the signature you recognise before you read the name.
Weave your names into the band.
Tell us the two names and the night. We engrave the shajarah on the mandoos lid, print it on the sachet card, and tie it into every rope tag. Laylat, "the night of", is completed by your order.
Laylat Hessa & Saif
Real Sadu, from real looms.
Printed ribbon reads as souvenir shop. Every YLAYLA hero piece carries a strip cut from a hand-woven length, made on a ground loom by women in Al Dhafra and through the Sougha programme. The colours are the ones they have always used: madder red, black wool, undyed white, and the ochre that comes from the desert.
Al Sadu is inscribed on the UNESCO list of intangible heritage in need of urgent safeguarding. We are not lifting a motif. We are commissioning it, naming the weaver on the card, and paying for the work.
